Pianist/composer/improviser Ran Blake and trombonist Aaron Hartley celebrate their 12th year co-producing New England Conservatory’s famed Film Noir series with
Vertigo, a tantalizing mélange of scenes from
Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 classic thriller.
As retired San Francisco police detective John “Scottie” Ferguson struggles to separate illusion from reality members of Aaron Hartley’s Storyboard Noir Ensemble create an original score, responding to the drama through improvisations, recompositions, and reinterpretations of
Bernard Herrmann’s orchestrations along with other works. Special guests include NEC alum vocalist
Sara Serpa, faculty members
Hankus Netsky,
Eden MacAdam-Somer with the CI Chamber Music Ensemble, and the NEC Jazz Orchestra directed by
Ken Schaphorst.
This free concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21 at NEC’s Jordan Hall, 290 Huntington Avenue, Boston. For more information, log on to http://necmusic.edu/event/15965 or call 617-585-1260.
