Ran Blake &
Lukas Papenfusscline
New Sounds in American Music
Lily Pad (Cambridge, MA)
Sat. Dec. 17th @ 8pm/9pm
Previously a former student of Ran’s while attending NEC, multi-talented folksinger Lukas Papenfusscline is a new duo partner, and this is their premier performance!

Hailing from Northern California, Lukas digs deep folk and roots recordings, and recomposes traditional songs with fresh harmonies, adapted stories, and haunted, soaring vocal lines. His background in classical, jazz, and world music elevates his folk to the avant-garde, subtle, and complex, while maintaining the simple energy that has driven folk-roots for centuries.

The husky yet somehow affable timbre of Lukas’ voice in combination with Ran’s noir ghost textures and modulating harmonies are sure to be an ear pleaser the week before Christmas Eve. This duo will feature new repertoire from the American folk tradition. I wouldn’t miss this one, folks!
